Scars occur any time there is damage to the dermal layer of the skin.
Southeastern Skin Cancer & Dermatology is able to offer several options for scar revision, whether from surgery, acne or otherwise. Each type of scar is different and the location, patient age and other factors are considerations during treatment. We can offer chemical peels, lasers, various types of injections, cyrosurgery, surgical intervention and revision, abrasions as well as medical management.
Specifically for surgical scars, there is no way for someone to have a surgical procedure without some evidence or scar. It does not matter who performs the procedure or what has been promised. The key is having someone trained in minimizing that scar and hiding it in an optimal fashion, such as a Mohs fellowship-trained dermatologic surgeon. Usually a timeline to expect is 3 months for an early “preview” of healing results with the full result encompassing texture, softness, color, blending, or other features peaking around 12 months. Should a scar not heal the way expected we do have experience in helping you to achieve the best final result possible.
Should you have any preexisting scars that concern you, please let us know and we can have a discussion with you focusing on your specific needs and condition.
